DES MOINES, IOWA –August 14, 2008—JAPANESE GROUP TO PERFORM IN DES MOINES AS PART OF THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION OF THE DES MOINES - KOFU JAPAN SISTER CITY RELATIONSHIP.
The 50th Anniversary of the Des Moines - Kofu (Japan) Sister City relationship, the city’s longest standing Sister City relationship, will be celebrated in Des Moines by the Kofu Yamanashi International Exchange Band that is visiting the city from August 14-17, 2008.
The 44 piece band arrives in at 4:25 pm today at the Des Moines International Airport. (See attached itinerary) as a part of the 50th anniversary celebrations. On Friday, August 15th the band will perform at Merle Hay Mall at 6:00 pm in the lower bridge court and then on Saturday, August 16th at 9:30am on the AE stage at the Iowa State Fair.
The Greater Des Moines Community Band, conducted by Vic Anderson, will join the Kofu Yamanashi International Exchange Band in a wide variety of Japanese and American music at both locations.
The public is invited to both performances. The media is urged to attend and publicize Des Moines’ international relationship.
