DES MOINES, IOWA –December 23, 2008 — The City of Des Moines government offices will be closed Thursday December 24th, Friday 25th, and Thursday January 1st for the holiday season. There will be no solid waste collection of garbage, or recyclables on these dates.
In observance of the holidays there will be a one-day delay in solid waste and recycling collection. Solid waste and recycling regularly collected Thursday Dec 25th, Friday Dec 26th, Thursday January 1st and Friday January 2nd will be delayed one day. If you have any questions, please call our 24-hour City of Des Moines Department of Public Works Customer Service Center at 283-4950.

DES MOINES, IOWA -- NOVEMBER 24, 2008 ------The City of Des Moines wants residents to know that the 2009 Animal Licenses are now available (Monday, November 24th )for purchase in the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall. Pet license renewal forms are also being mailed to registered owners.
The City of Des Moines Animal Ordinance requires all dogs and cats six months old and older to have a license. The licenses are due and enforced on January 1 of each year. Purchase of an animal license is the best insurance that your lost pet will be quickly returned to you. The cost of a license is as follows: $35 for Non-Spayed/Non-Neutered animals $15 for Spayed/Neutered animals $5 for citizens over age 65, (first dog and first cat per household)
